Valeri medallist Hristjan Tanoski wants to press his claims for an A-League contract and can take the next step in Wednesday's match with Sydney FC's National Youth League team.

The Canberra Olympic midfielder is part of the Youth United side which will face the Sky Blues at St George Stadium in Banksia, the first of three games in 11 days against NYL opposition.

Youth United will take on the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday, October 5, before backing up a day later against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Tanoski is coming off a man-of-the-match performance for Olympic in its 2-0 win in last Saturday's Canberra National Premier League grand final against Canberra FC.

The 19-year-old is looking forward to lining up alongside some of Canberra's most exciting young talent and proving himself against Sydney FC.

''It's a big buzz and a chance to show we can step up to the next level,'' Tanoski said.

''I've got two more years left in the NYL, so if I'm going to impress I might as well do it now.

''We've got a pretty strong side and there's some depth in Canberra.''

Tanoski is a former Australian Schoolboys representative and has trialled with several lower-tier Italian clubs.

He is joined in the Youth United side by Olympic teammates Josh Gaspari and Nathan Tidmarsh.

Canberra FC pair Aaron Evans, recently on trial with Adelaide United, and Daniel Bennett, who spent the European pre-season with English Conference National club Kidderminster Harriers, will also be on show.

Capital Football technical director Warren Grieve believed the upcoming games were the perfect opportunity for the brightest stars in Canberra to put themselves in the shop window.

''It's a good chance for the young players to showcase their ability to National Youth League coaches,'' Grieve said.

''We are looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead for the squad and are well prepared for the match against Sydney FC tomorrow.

''There were several players unavailable for selection for a number of reasons, but we are happy with the make-up of the roster.''
